In this way, the objective\nand the general principles of the convention have been revised and\nextended so as to guarantee the long-term sustainability of fishery\nresources rather than their optimal utilisation in the Convention\nArea. In so doing, the Amendment would ensure that marine\necosystems in which these resources are found would be safeguarded\nand the contracting parties would bear in mind the precautionary\nprinciple and take account of the relationship between all\ncomponents of the ecosystem thus conserving marine\nbiodiversity.
\nThe Amendment would:
