        "<div id=\"summary\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&#160;The committee adopted the report by\nFrancesco Enrico SPERONI (UEN, IT) on the request for defence of\nthe immunity and privileges of Ashley MOTE (ITS, UK) in connection\nwith criminal proceedings brought against him in the territory of\nthe United Kingdom.</p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The committee pointed out that Article 10 of\nthe Protocol of 8 April 1965 on the Privileges and Immunities of\nthe European Communities provides that, during the sessions of the\nEuropean Parliament, its members shall enjoy \"in the territory of\ntheir own State, the immunities accorded to members of their\nparliament.......\". However, Members of the UK Parliament do not\nenjoy immunity from criminal prosecution.The committee accordingly\nrecommended that Parliament should not defend the immunity and\nprivileges of Mr Ashley Mote, given that he has no immunity to\ndefend.</p>\n<p>&#160;</p>\n</div>\n"
