        "<div id=\"summary\">\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">PURPOSE : to conclude a Protocol updating the\npartnership and co-operation agreement (PCA) between the Republic\nof Moldova and the EU following the accession of ten new Member\nStates.</span></p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">LEGISLATIVE ACT : Council and Commission Decision\n2006/536/EC on the conclusion of the Protocol to the Partnership\nand Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the\nEuropean Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and\nthe Republic of Moldova, of the other part, to take account of the\naccession of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the\nRepublic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of\nLithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the\nRepublic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak\nRepublic to the European Union.</span></p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">CONTENT : following the accession of ten new Member\nStates to the EU in May 2004, the Council authorised the Commission\nto open negotiations with the Republic of Moldova to update the\npreviously agreed partnership and co-operation agreement by drawing\nup a Protocol to the PCA. The Protocol itself covers certain\ntechnical adjustments linked to institutional and legal\ndevelopments within the EU and seeks to reflect the new landscape\nfollowing the EU's enlargement.
